Weāve featured Kalandra frequently on this site over the last 10 years, and their incredible debut album āThe Lineā was pretty much our favourite album of 2020.
So weāre delighted that they arrive in the UK tomorrow for some headline shows and we also have a new album āA Frame of Mindā to listen to and write about, released last Friday. Whilst we take our time to get to know it, theyāve also released a video to the opening track of the album entitled āI Amā.
Firstly those UK tour dates open at Birmingham Asylum tomorrow Tuesday 17th September, before heading to Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester Gorilla on Friday where I hope to see them and finishing in London on Sunday. The band then head off for a mammoth European tour starting in France, more details here on their website.
Meanwhile vocalist Katrina has been explaining more about the new video and concept behind the track: āThe lyrics delve into the act of self-reflection, acknowledging the person youāve become and taking responsibility for your own evolution.Ā The music video is made by the multi talented filmmaker, puppet maker and stop motion artist Martyna Koleniecā.
āWe are so incredibly proud of how sheās managed to make our storytelling and vision come to life. We didnāt really have to follow up much as she simply āunderstoodā the task perfectly, which makes us both teary eyed and ever grateful. We hope it resonates with you as much as it does for us.ā
Kalandra are simply stunning live, and we canāt recommend them highly enough.
